James Shen

I am an independent Odoo Functional Consultant with three years of hands-on experience: two years inside a leading Belgian Gold Partner, and a year working remotely while based in China.
I specialise in manufacturing, logistics, and accounting, but I am comfortable across the full Odoo suite and have worked across very different industries and team sizes.
I work remotely to keep projects lean, but I am fully flexible for on-site workshops, training, or go-live support.

Challenge
A global industrial group needed to unify spare parts, multi-warehouse logistics, manufacturing, and cross-border accounting, while staying in sync with two existing group platforms.
What I did
- Led workshops with department managers across multiple countries
- Configured the full manufacturing to invoice cycle from scratch
- Co-architected API integrations with the group ERP and PLM
- Coordinated across four stakeholder layers including Odoo's own team

Challenge
The infrastructure division operated plants entirely on paper for inspections, incidents, and maintenance, under strict safety regulations with no room for error.
What I did
- Modelled the full plant structure in Odoo (plant, zone, equipment)
- Built an incident management system with linked field interventions
- Set up recurring inspections and preventive maintenance flows
- Connected spare parts stock directly to field operations

First cross-border project: bridging two very different operational cultures
Challenge
A trading group with operations in Europe and China needed to unify purchasing, sales, inventory, and accounting across teams that worked in completely different ways.
What I did
- Analysed operational needs on both sides independently
- Facilitated workshops with European and Chinese teams together
- Mapped both sets of processes into a shared Odoo setup

Challenge
Both organisations ran grant budgets in Excel with no traceability, and needed precise purchase to invoice matching including complex third-party supplier scenarios.
What I did
- Led the full project as PM and lead BA, managed analysts and developers
- Built a custom approval circuit in Studio to control all spending
- Developed PO to invoice matching for complex supplier setups
- Weekly on-site presence during the transition for training and support

Challenge

- Full migration from legacy system with no operational disruption

Challenge
The company had Odoo but wasn't really using it: no barcodes, paper field reports, and no visibility between the warehouse and field teams.
What I did
- Audited and restructured the existing Odoo setup
- Configured barcode-driven inventory for all warehouse operations
- Co-built a custom complex digital assembly report

Challenge
A premium Brussels club needed one system to handle complex membership tiers, 150+ annual events, physical access control, and targeted member communications. The Odoo system was oudated and needed to migrate to the latest version.
What I did
- Business analysis and process mapping for membership flows
- Helped on a complex migration project from Odoo 14 to Odoo 17
- Provided on-site go-live support to ensure a smooth launch

A complete implementation built around accessibility and visual communication
Challenge
A Brussels association needed to modernise its operations, with most key users being hearing impaired. Every workshop, document, and training session had to be rethought for accessibility.
What I did
- Led the full project as PM and BA
- Adapted all workshops and training for accessibility-first delivery
- Produced visual step-by-step documentation for every module
- Did regular trainings sessions to help the team adopt the solution progressively

E-commerce — merch store launch
Outcome: Live e-commerce store fully owned and managed by the team, no technical dependency
Building a full online shop on Odoo for a creative community with zero tech background
Challenge
A Brussels techno music collective wanted to sell merchandise online but had no technical setup, no prior experience with e-commerce, and needed something they could manage themselves going forward.
What I did
- Set up the full Odoo e-commerce store from scratch
- Configured product catalogue, payment, and delivery flows
- Customised the storefront to match the collective's visual identity
- Trained the team to manage products, orders, and stock independently
